Clothing industry is facing important environmental sustainability issues including waste generation, excessive consumption of non-renewable materials and energy as well as gaseous emissions. Nevertheless, the adoption of sustainable business models especially the circular economy is still in its infancy in this sector due to significant challenges i. e. complex supply chain operations and manufacturing. In this way, this research tries to identify key drivers and current barriers for the circular economy adoption in the clothing industry to recommend a coherent and integrated model for these issues. The current research is applied in terms of its purpose and its method is qualitative that has been performed by meta-synthesis method. The statical population consists of English published papers in the last seven years concerning to the research question. After a search from the reputable databases as well as evaluation the titles, abstracts, and contents of the obtained papers, 64 articles were finally selected to extract the required data. With the help of coding method, 48 items, 15 components and 4 major dimensions were identified and their validity were confirmed by the Kappa Cohen coefficient. Using seven-step model of Sandelowski and Barroso, the findings of 64 selected articles were evalyated, aggregated, combined, and finally interpreted. Finally, through combining the findings from the qualitative studies as well as incorporating the key aspects of the institutional theory and natural resource-based view, the final integrated model was presented. The proposed model, which is the result of previous research, will help the sustainable development in the textile industry align with global trends.
