The aim of this study was to develop a methodological framework and operational process for the constructing of regional tourism satellite accounts (RTSA) in Iran, using an analytical-comparative approach and deep documentary studies. Accordingly, by explaining the structure of the RTSA and introducing the statistical sources used in other countries and the level of access to statistics in the Iran provinces (for example, Khorasan Razavi province), the sources and methods of collecting regional tourism accounts in Iran has provided. Based on the results of this study and in order to provide RTSA for the provinces of Iran, it is suggested that from decuple tables only seven tables (Tables 1 to 6 and Table 10) should be prepared and the method of preparation of these accounts should be directly and independently of TSA. In addition to existing statistics sources, at least three surveys should be made for the preparation of these accounts, which include: National/Provincial surveys completing the survey of national tourists, surveys of national/provincial outbound tourists, surveys to determine the adjusting coefficients of organizational data. The RTSA are a tool for economic analysis (especially, economic impact) in the regional tourism industry and has interconnected with other economic accounts (SNA and regional IO tables). The establishment of a strategic council for the preparation of RTSA at the provinces makes possible the prepare of comprehensive statistics for preparation the RTSA, which is also provided by the sector od statistics in provincial Management and Planning Organization.
